"Preston North End FC is pleased to announce that Mr. Alessandro Ioli will be the manager of the first team also for the 2017 - 2018 season. We wish the best to Mr Ioli"

Here are Mr. Ioli's first words after signing the contract renewal.

"I'm happy to continue the work that I had started last season and to carry on the ambitious project of our management. Today we start from the 32 points out of 39 that we have achieved since I took on the team's technical guidance and we have to start with humility and spirit of sacrifice because that’s the only way to reach our target: qualifying for the play off.

"We have changed the skeleton of the team just a little bit because we believe in our guys, but something had to be done in terms of quality and the purchases of Hughes, Fletcher, Souttar and Gauld are in this way.

"We also strengthened the youth team with 14 purchases and we believe that these players will give us great satisfaction in the future.

"In the end, I want to calm our fans: we are vigilant in the market and ready to keep the opportunities that might come in the future"
