Burnley appoint new man !

Burnley announced their new manager yesterday lunch time, their third in five seasons. Ben Clifford former Arsenal and Derby County boss walked into a stunned press conference room upon his return to top flight management. Many had thought Clifford had walked away from the game after a sad exit as Arsenal boss and then a damaging short term role at Derby. Surprise filled the air mainly due to the unexpectedness around the appointment, Clifford's name would not have been on many peoples lips nor did the bookies have him in contention.

Burnley officials had this to say

"After the previous manager departed we received a couple of applicants from current managers, we decided to reach out to Clifford later in the process after discovering his availability and eagerness to return after a season out of the game. His understanding of the Division and top flight football made him the outstanding choice and we quickly agreed Ben was the right man for the job"

Here's what new manager Ben Clifford had to say after his shock appointment.

"Initially i wasn't even aware of the vacancy, I have largely been inactive when it comes to current footballing issues including managerial changes. I was however approached on Sunday lunch time, and thanks to having zero ties or lose ends i was able to attend the interview at the earliest opportunity. From there it quickly became more and more apparent what the club's goals and aims are they certainly match up with my own.

Burnley have a solid history when it comes to TFF a familiar name in Division 1 with a impressive highest finish of 7th way back in season one. They've never been a club that enters my mind when you think about relegation from Division 1 so that suggests they have strong foundations. Now the target is to push on for top 10 finishes and European places"
