Newcastle, who have been in the top division for nearly two weeks, witnessed their first defeat of the season after taking on a very well organised Arsenal side, the Gunners showed the magpies that division one does have some quality.
Newcastle welcomed Arsenal to St. James' Park as they attempted to carry on their magnificent start to the season with a 2 - 1 win against Manchester United and a 2 - 2 draw against Chelsea under their belt. However it didn't take long for Arsenal to unleash their power. Six minutes in Newcastle were 1 - 0 down and things only got worse from there. The match ended 5 - 0 thanks to a Messi hat-trick, who is starting to show his worth. Newcastle were embarrassed on the pitch as they suffered their heaviest loss since Mark took the job.

Newcastle in a Nutshell:
Newcastle started the season with arguably three of the hardest sides in the division.
Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal. However Mark lead the magpies to grab 4 points from their first two matches before the embarrassment against Arsenal, which some would see as a respectable start considering the calibre of player at all three sides. Moving forward Newcastle have what some would say an easy run compared to the start with games against Hull, Sunderland and Burnley all coming up. However as Newcastle have quickly found out, division one is a lot more intense then fans first thought.
Newcastle's biggest successes have come in the transfer window however. The Magpies have captured some stars, most notably new arrival Gabriel Jesus.

The Brazilian youngster joined midweek after Newcastle beat competition from Arsenal to the signature, just before we took them on in the league.
Newcastle also have an increasing amount of youth on their books, most noticeably:
- Lucas Hernandez (Atleitco Madrid)
- Nelson Semedo (Barcelona)
- Guilherme Arana (Corinthians)
- Oyarzabal (Real Sociedad)
- Hirving Lozano (PSV)
As many managers have noticed this youth is going to decide where Newcastle finish not only this season but in the coming future as well. Newcastle is built on the youth they have found through the excellent scouts they have at Newcastle which does cause concern considering the lack of experience in the starting eleven. This youth has already increased the squad value at Newcastle by a respectable 47 million this season - Newcastle are one to watch for the future.
However Newcastle aren't without any experienced players, for example Immobile, Trigueros and Corluka are all key players who have a number of years at the topflight under their belt.
If these key players play well together and start jelling Newcastle can push on into the top 8 where manager Mark hopes to finish.

Newcastle take on Hull next on Thursday and this could be a very exciting game for both managers. Hull are without Hulk, Moreno and Dembele heading into Thursdays game which leaves Newcastle with a heavy advantage. This gives Newcastle the chance to bounce back from the 5 - 0 defeat. Newcastle have a fully fit side as well where as Hull have a cup game before hand. Hull manager Dom Latouche and Mark have clashed in the past so this match has all the signs of a one to watch match.
