Gareth, you seem to be quite settled at Palace now, is that somewhere you see you long term future in TFF? Yes i am very settled at Palace. I do see my future here i want to build a side to break in to the top six it is a long term project. But one that i feel is possible. I also want to build a strong youth team that will benefit us in seasons to come.
Some managers might say you over achieved with the squad you had at Derby, is that something you think is justified or was there a good bunch of players there ? I do feel i slightly over achieved with that squad at Derby I was looking to avoid relegation in the first season so to be around the playoff places was unexpected. They were good players, solid rather than flair players but in that league i wanted players that would preform week in week out. I was improving the squad slowly and feel I left the club in a very good place.
With a big squad at your dispose with some top players, how do you plan on keeping them all happy? It is a big squad to keep happy there will be some rotation of players throughout the season but I will use my strongest 11 for most matches the rest of the players will be used for cup games. I know some will possibly develop concerns but you cant keep everyone happy all the time. So if concerns develop then i will allow the player to leave. There is no point in keeping unhappy players.
Is there any youth players in the squad who you feel isn't world recognised but could be a little gem? The one that jumps out for me is Andre Dozzell I really think he has a bright future. In a few years there's no doubt in my mind he will be an England international. Unfortunatley injured IRL for the season. Also a quick mention for Elif Elmas a player i have followed for a while now and was very happy to bring him to Palace.
Is there any areas of the squad you feel you lack in and could improve on? We lack up top Carlos Bacca is struggling to settle in to the team so I would like to bring in a top striker at some point in the next few weeks but we wont rush the signing of anyone. Goalkeeper, defence and midfield ! am very happy with these areas and don't feel the need to tinker to much with the squad in these areas.
