SMFA Champions Cup Final

Stadium: Morumbi - (Brazil)

Attendance: 65,040

Ever translated the Champions League anthem into English ? It makes for pretty simple understanding.

They are the best teams They are the best teams The main event The master The best The great teams The champions A big meeting A great sporting event The main event

They are the best They are the best These are the champions The master The best The champions

And there you have it folks the best as queen would proudly and loudly sing ! What a night for European football, what a night for English football with a 100% guarantee that a English side would win both the Champions league and the Europa League. Chelsea vs Arsenal was the main event of the evening. The dust having settled on domestic football there was one favourite, one clear winner to back, they were Chelsea.

Lets break it down - Chelsea and Arsenal had met three times this season Chelsea winning all three 2-3, 2-1 (Cup Final) and 3-1 (League title win) They had the edge, they have the advantage of mind games that tends to come with 3 clear cut wins, with two of those ending in some kinda silverware. In fact Arsenal have only won one competitive game against Chelsea in 5 attempts you'd have to go back as far as season 1 to see it.

The game always means so much to so many but this was different. A treble win on the line for Chelsea in what would be greatest season in their history, a feat that would surly go unmatched for a considerable amount of time in TTF. They'd be the undisputed kings of England and Europe the best team on the planet.

Arsenal however needed this win more then ever not to even revenge the crushing defeats of this season but to finally get of the mark. In other words to finally be the bride at the wedding. There were slight signs of discontent with manager Ben Clifford, failed league title attempts Season 2's being the hardest to take and a failed Cup final attempt. Had Clifford had marched Arsenal to their highest highs ?

Kick OFF

Its almost hard to describe what a stadium with 30,000 Chelsea fans all in blue and with 30,000 Arsenal fans all in red looks like. The biggest club competition in the world.

Arsenal started strongly, but how many times have we said that in Arsenal V Chelsea games ? Neymar playing the ball to Gonzalo HIGUAÍN in the 4th minute. HIGUAÍN fires one towards goal but COURTOIS is equal to it a fine save. There's been many flash points in this game's history it was only a matter of time before we saw a card. VARANE shouted abuse at the ref after a questionable decision. VARANE's name was quickly taken into the refs book. Yellow Card.

13th minute - GOAL - Chelsea: Eden HAZARD played a cheeky dink pass into the path of Diego GODÍN. GODÍN a ex Arsenal man puts his foot through the ball and hit a powerful shot at goal. Lloris was taken a back by the sheer speed of the shot and was beaten all ends up. Chelsea 1-0 Arsenal. History clearly not fancying a change.

The Morumbi stadium was bouncing half the noise coming from the blue end. Chelsea fan's well confident of the win now and who could blame them Arsenal have never come from behind to beat Chelsea in all their previous meetings. James Rodriguez picked up a yellow for shirt pulling in what turned into a nervous period of the game for both sides.

28th Mintue - GOAL - Arsenal: Chelsea have lacked discipline in their recent encounters with Arsenal as mentioned before the last two meetings have produced 4 red cards. A free kick given away on the edge of the 18 yard box. Messi standing over the ball.... Messi hits it with wicked swerve and that final dip. Courtois left wrong footed.

Arsenal 1-1 Chelsea.

The game was nicely poised now, the next goal so important anyother Chelsea yellow card this time Belguim Hazard bringing down Higuain. With Ronaldo suspended Chelsea were looking blunt and in-need of a moment of magic to get themselves back into the game.

41st Minute - GOAL - Arsenal: Absolute madness coming from the Arsenal crowd. Arsenal had taken the lead and just before half time this could change the managers speeches totally. Neymar jinxed his way into the box with lovely footwork with the ball at his feet. Looking up for the pass he played Higuain who hit the ball first time with the side of his boot passing the ball into the goal, the power on the pass enough to take the ball pass the diving Chelsea keeper. Arsenal 2-1 Chelsea.

Second Half

46th Minute - GOAL - ARSENAL !!!: WOW the fan's cant believe it, the Chelsea players can't believe it. A team they've had the beating of all season had just scored a 3rd. Higuain brought from Juventus with his second. Messi this time the architect in a almost re-take of the second goal. A lovely pass and another first time effort for Higuain, Courtois getting a hand to it but the shot too powerful. Arsenal 3-1 Chelsea

Chelsea needed a response quickly....

49th Minute - GOAL - Chelsea: DYBALA !! a amazing run past the midfield of Kroos, De Bruyne and Ketia. Dybala found himself with enough time to slip Hazard inbehind the Arsenal back line the Belgium hitting one into the bottom corner clipping the inside of the post Lloris no chance, what a reply ! Arsenal 3-2 Chelsea.

What followed was a spate of yellow cards as the game turned into a proper English affair. Arsenal so desperately trying to resist Chelsea pressure and Chelsea so desperately trying to knock the wall of red they faced down. Messi, Godin and Silva all going into the book surly we were going to see the 5th red card in 3 games between the two.

Chelsea were pushing now Arsenal seemingly happy that they could hold out, dropped deeper and deeper inviting Chelsea even more in the hopes a quick counter would finish the game. Griezmann came close in the 68th minute. Lloris however equal to his country man's effort.

It was time for body's to be put on the line now with fantastic blocks and tackle's on display. Kyle Walker racing back to make a last ditch block on a goal bound Pogba shot in the 85th.

The final whistle !

Arsenal are European Champions the fan's in tears ! They don't believe it the Chelsea fans are heading for the exits. Clifford is on the pitch hugging the players Arsenal have finally overcome Chelsea and in perhaps the most important game the two will ever face of in.

The Arsenal board promised Clifford and new contract if he delivered club footballs biggest prize... Time will tell what happens Arsenal's first trophy, Clifford's first trophy what a final, what a match, what a shock !

Ben Clifford

"Word's cant describe the absolute joy i feel right now, the pride i have in my players in my backroom staff. I think the fan's deserve this one we've been close this seasons Cup Final loss was heartbreaking we put so much into it. We've let ourselves down in the league this season so i'm thankful we have something to show for our hard work. Im glad the fans have something to celebrate"

"The board did say they'ed open contract negotiations if they were delivered a trophy, so we will have to wait and see what happens. We have 20 Million pounds now to invest back into the squad so I'm sure there will be a sit down with the higher powers soon"

"I want to give the players some time off now they deserve it, i wish the fan's a happy off-season and I pledge Arsenal football club will be fighting at the top of the table again in Season 3"
